Sometimes I'm out of flint and there's no spark. Sometimes there's not enough wick to get a blaze going. The elephant trunk in my pjs is perpetually fresh, and I regularly get slapped for its precocity. I did stay in Procol Harem's Grand Hotel for a time. Actually, I live between Moose Jaw and Montreal, but how did you come to rule out M Jaw?

Oh, CB! The apple, peach, cherry and cornucopia of my covert life. Thank-you for your thoughtful message. I have dearly missed our repartee and the opportunity to appreciate and comment on your posts for past couple of weeks -- which I will do momentarily.

The reason I've been absent lately is that finally, after over five years, I've created the opportunity to get away for some me-time. Two weeks ago I jumped on my bike and headed off on a four-week ride through ND, SD, WY, CO, UT, ID, WA and MT. I've met some fabulous folk; marvelled at towering blue skies; stunningly powerful, yet spectacularly beautiful summer storms; quirky, quaint towns; and some of the most exciting riding along twisty, back country roads that dip and dive with the landscape. If you'd like, perhaps you'd unblock your PMs, and I'll send you a few photos of what I've experienced.

With 2,700 miles already behind me, I imagine I'll have ridden 7,000 miles by the time I roll back home again. I can imagine only one thing that would make this trip better! ;)
